Many people wonder about the connection between yoga and kayaking. Both are very physical, but at the same time they are both about being centered and in the moment. During yoga practice we breath and stay conneceted to the moment. Kayakers may not realize it, but they too stay centered and in the moment. Think about the last time you had to catch an eddie or were surfing, or even doing some rescues. Yes, you were in the moment. And how much does increased range of motion help with paddling. As kayak instructors what is the number one thing we say "ROTATE" and as yoga teachers we say exhale to deepen the twist. Almost forgot, both can be relaxing or extremly stimultaing your choice. Being a teacher of both, I consider myself the luckiest man on the planet. Now if I could just make a living to this.
